My name is Diego. I’m an innovative and passionate artist based in Hickory. My journey in art began as a child in 2002 when I discovered my love for drawing. My talent became evident early on when I won a drawing contest in elementary school for a school mascot, igniting a lifelong commitment to creative expression.
In 2013, I became a licensed tattoo artist, officially merging my love for drawing with body art. This pivotal moment laid the foundation for my artistic career, leading me to establish INKEM INK in 2019—a creative haven where we bring ideas to life through our unique tattoo designs.
My deeply rooted passion is dark art, exploring themes that resonate with the complexities of human experience. My artistic style is diverse, encompassing painting and various forms of visual art, all infused with a distinctive flair.
Looking toward the future, I aspire to form collective and passionate artists in rural areas, fostering an environment where different styles and perspectives can flourish. I aim to create a supportive community that encourages collaboration and artistic growth.

My name is Melanie, I’m an artist at Inkem Ink Studio. I was born and raised in Hickory, not too far from the shop. For as long as I can remember I have always had a love for art. My passion for drawing has been shining since such a young age and I have been flourishing in it ever since. I specialize in fine line tattoos but have found an interest in American traditional and stitch work style. I’m here to create unique and one of a kind pieces for my clients. I love what I do, and enjoy putting my artwork on people who love it just as much as I do. Let’s bring your vision to life!

My name is Rico and i am a resident in McDowell county. Since I was a kid, drawing and coloring have always been my passion. Creating my own book by hand at the age of six was a defining moment, setting the stage for what was to come! When I first picked up a tattoo machine at 15, alongside my cousin, I knew I had found my calling. Through relentless practice on family and friends, honed my skills, always striving to create something new and amazing. The expressions on people’s faces when they see my work-that’s the ultimate reward. This is my dream, my passion and I’m very pleased to see where my journey takes me!
